Building Your Heavenly Account

In Matthew 6:18-21, Jesus teaches us to "store up for yourselves treasures in heaven," where neither moth destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. Unlike earthly bank accounts, which are vulnerable to decay and theft, our heavenly account remains secure and unaffected by worldly instability.

but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. (Matthew 6:20)

Similarly, 1 Timothy 6:17-19 “Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.  Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,  storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.: commands us to place our hope not in the uncertainty of wealth, but in God. The treasures we store in heaven—achieved through generosity, good deeds, and living faithfully—are not just noble; they are investments in our eternal portfolio.

Reflection Question: How can you contribute to your heavenly bank account this week through acts of generosity and service?

Prayer and Declaration:

Abba Father, I proclaim that my treasure is in heaven, where it will never fail. Empower me to set my heart on things above, not on the fleeting riches of this world. Help me not to chase after the wind but to pursue the true riches of Your kingdom. Move me through Your Holy Spirit to perform acts of generosity and service, knowing these investments have eternal value. Teach me to value what You value. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
