Throwing away the burden

Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:2

Many among us find it challenging to trust God fully, especially in times of distress. Casting our burdens on the Lord isn't just an emotional release; it's an active choice to trust God fully and relinquish control. This decision can be uneasy because it involves not only faith but also a surrender of our self-will and self-sufficiency. Psalm 55:22 reveals two divine promises: the Lord will 'sustain' us, and He will ensure we are not 'moved.' The Hebrew verbs deepen these assurances: 'sustain' implies ongoing support and provision, while 'moved' promises stability, indicating that we will not be shaken or made to fall. This encourages us to make the constant choice to cast our burdens onto the Lord, trusting in His sustaining power and ultimate security.

Reflection:

What burdens are you holding onto today that you need to cast upon the Lord to receive His sustaining power and ultimate security?

Prayer and Declaration:
Abba Father, in the name of Jesus, I renounce my need to control and the spirit of fear. I choose to cast all my anxieties upon You because You care for me, as declared in 1 Peter 5:7. Lord, I declare by faith that You are my sustainer and protector. Thank you for promising to uphold me and for not allowing me to be moved all the days of my life. I believe and proclaim that as I lay down my worries at Your feet, You will provide the peace and stability I seek. Strengthen my faith, O Lord, and help me to trust in Your unfailing support. I surrender my all to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
