Love is a mix
You have ravished my heart. Song of Songs 4:19
The key verse is "You have ravished my heart, with one look at your eyes". This verse shows God's intense feelings towards us; He is irresistible to us. Just one look from our eye is enough to fill Jesus's heart with overwhelming love and accelerate His heartbeat. It's like a romantic scene when we turn our eyes toward Jesus, for His eyes are already focused on us, waiting for us to see Him and lock His eyes with us.
'Ravish' in Hebrew is LIVABETHINI, the root word is heart, so it means to be enheartened, to make the heart beat faster, and to make cakes and bread. I've always been drawn to food, so I can't help but wonder what the connection is between baking and love.
Making a dough or cake batter requires mixing the dry and wet ingredients along with kneading or stirring them together. In love relationships, I found that the mixing process represents the seamless blending of two hearts.
The flour and water themselves are plain, but when they are mixed together, they become dough and ultimately bread. As the "mix" in this verse strengthens its meaning even further, it implies not only that we can make Jesus's heart beat faster, but that our love for Him is like two hearts joining together, we become one.
Let us lock our eyes with Jesus and feel our hearts merge into one like liquid love flowing toward us.
Blessing prayer: Your love for us is infinitely deep and wide and I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from Your love. May the Holy Spirit bind us together so that we are one with Christ and bond with love. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
