Total protection

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

The Psalm 91 is well known for God's total protection, one of the most famous bible teachers Derek Prince called it "God's atomic bomb shelter ”. Psalm 91 was frequently quoted during the pandemic, and I personally found it useful for my spiritual growth by proclamation and memorisation of the verses.

It illustrates God's powerful promise to protect us from every kind of evil, danger, and harm, however it may arise, by whatever means, and whenever it occurs. Verse 14-16 show God's wonderful promises about giving us a long, honorable, satisfying life, and it ends with the word salvation in Hebrew, which means Jesus. How do we claim Psalm 91 benefits? This Psalm reveals three conditions that must be met.

Verse 1 “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”  First, we must choose to be close to God, even as close as His shadow. If a bad typhoon is hitting us, and God has provided a shelter, would we choose to remain outside and chase the typhoon? When troubles come, do we seek God's help or do we use our own strength to resolve them? Furthermore, the key term is "dwells", which means to stay or to sit down”. Jesus is already seated at the right hand of God, and we have been raised with Christ (Colossians 3:1), so when we recognize this truth, we are confident in our position that our dwelling .

Verse 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”  Trusting God with unwavering faith is the second condition. In verse two, there is a powerful declaration, “in Him I will trust” . Trust leaves no room for unbelief, and Psalm 91 details how we are protected by divine intervention and supernatural protection when we trust God.

Verse 14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name." As a last condition, we must love God, for He promises in verses 14-16 that He will protect and provide for us. It is through a close and loving relationship with God that we are able to live our lives to the fullest.

Let us stay close to Him, trust Him, and love Him!

Blessing prayer: We thank you for providing protection and provision for us. Please keep us close to you and protect us from the evil one. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
