Inconvenient Faith (Part 1)
That my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!" Psalm 30:12
For the first 21 years of my life, I was mostly inactive. My high amputation meant my prosthetic socket wrapped around my hip, making it so restrictive that my lower body felt immovable. I could barely walk. I avoided going out because I was afraid of people seeing my awkward movements or judging how I looked.
But everything changed when I stopped using the prosthetic leg and began using crutches instead. Suddenly, I could move freely again. I started exercising, traveling, and experiencing the joy of being active. Life opened up for me, and what blessed me most was being able to attend worship services and worship God with my body.
A few years ago, during a church retreat, I was introduced to prophetic flag dance. As soon as I held the flags, I sensed the Holy Spirit moving with me. I felt complete freedom and liberation, even though my movements were still restrictive. In my spirit, I felt joy that poured out as praise to God. It was as though I finally understood what the psalmist meant: "My glory may sing praise to you."
In the context of worship, our "glory" refers to our innermost being—our body, soul, and spirit created to worship God. Worship is not just singing songs; it’s pouring out our entire being in praise to Him. There is a unique anointing in corporate worship, where the Spirit flows and we can touch the heartbeat of God.
Would worship feel inconvenient? Not at all. Show up for every worship session, pour out your heart, and let your whole being glorify God.
Reflection Question:
What is holding you back from engaging in worshipfully?
Prayer:
Abba Father, we are created to worship You. Open our spirit, mind, and body to worship You fully and experience the anointing that comes from worship. Transform us as our glory may sing your praise In Jesus’ name, Amen.
