The Word of Proverbs 31 (Part 8) - Fortitude

She girds her loins with strength and makes her arms strong. Proverbs 31:17

The virtuous woman in Proverbs 31 represent true strength, particularly spiritual fortitude. When "girding the loins," it refers to a state of preparedness, a symbol of readiness akin to a warrior dressing for battle. The "loins," indicating the hips and lower back, represent strength and power, which in a spiritual sense translate to our core resilience and moral fortitude. To "strengthen the arms" symbolizes the courage and capability necessary for performing various tasks.

For both men and women, spiritual fortitude is crucial as it reflects our readiness to undertake God's work. It means being prepared to act on God’s command and to fulfill our callings with diligence. In God's kingdom, we are all warriors, tasked to battle for the well-being of our families and our spiritual destinies. Our strength is drawn from the Holy Spirit, and we fight armed with wisdom, kindness, and trust in the Lord's goodness.

Reflection:

How can you strengthen your spiritual "arms and loins" to better prepare for the challenges God has set before you?

Prayer:
Abba Father, You are the source of our strength and the foundation of our courage. Blesst us the spiritual fortitude to live out our days with wisdom and devotion to Your purposes. As warriors in Your kingdom, help us to embody the virtues of the Proverbs 31, ready at all times to do Your will. Strengthen our resolve and deepen our faith, that we may trust in Your goodness and act with kindness and integrity. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
