Yielding to God’s will
In her heartfelt prayer, Hannah expressed more than just gratitude for the birth of Samuel; she also delivered a prophetic declaration of God’s power and holiness. Hannah’s prayer teaches us that no man shall prevail by human strength alone. She declares God’s power and justice over all adversaries.
This mirrors our spiritual journey, where striving against God through disobedience, idolatry, injustice, pride, or unbelief sets us as His adversaries. However, the beauty of God’s character is revealed in His grace to restore and strengthen those who repent and return to Him. By yielding to God, rather than contending with Him, we find peace and wholeness instead of facing destruction. God’s heart is always to redeem and restore, and He shall never contend with men.
Reflection Question:
What areas of your life are you striving against God, and how can you begin to yield these areas to His will ?
Prayer:
Abba Father, we come before You with yielding hearts. We repent for striving against Your will. In the name of Jesus, we ask forgiveness for our acts of disobedience, pride, unbelief, and every way we have set ourselves as adversaries to Your will.
Lord, as You broke the adversaries, shatter our self-will and replace it with a spirit of submission to Your will. Teach us to yield not to our sinful nature but to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Restore and empower us, that we may joyfully obey and serve as testimonies of Your goodness and faithfulness. May we walk in obedience all the days of our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.
