A beautiful mind - Truth (Part 2)

Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part  You will make me to know wisdom. Psalm 51:6

What is truth? Before we discuss truth, I would like to address the hard truth first. The human heart is deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9) and we live in an age of deceit. Paul warns that in the last days, “and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” 2 Timothy 4:4 , the preceding verse explains why people cannot handle sound doctrine since they base it on their own desires. The source of truth must be true - if the source comes from self-centeredness or humanity, then it is not true.

So what is truth? Truth is something that is based on reality or fact. Like 2+2 = 4.  However, truth is more than mere information or knowledge, and it manifests twofold: It manifests in the person of God as well as in His Word.

When it comes to truth, there's no neutrality: Jesus is either the greatest lunatic in history. He claims to be the son of God, He is the truth, and He is the word. If He was a madman, everything we believe is a lie, and we could burn the Bible. Conversely, if Jesus is truly the son of God, all the Bible is true and the truth is true.

The first attribute of Godly thinking is "truth," so when we dwell on Jesus and God's Word, we are soaking in the truth. Let us not forget that Satan is the father of lies, and our minds are the battlefield where lies are implanted in our heads and through cultural influences. However, some of his lies make us feel good and appear true, so we believe them.

How can we combat lies and deception? We don't really need to fight it. "Truth" strips lies of their power, so it can expose them like light exposes darkness. Just like a bank teller who knows the real money note and can spot a counterfeit instantly. Having been acquainted with truth, letting Jesus infiltrate our minds and immersing ourselves in Scripture, our Spirit can discern what is true and what is false.

There may be some "individual truths", for example, that someone was abandoned or wounded by an earthly father." This is true fact, but the power of truth is the transformation of our personal reality into God's reality. God says, “I am your heavenly father, I will never leave you nor forsake you.” The truth can transcend the reality of God, allowing our minds and hearts to be aligned with the scriptures.

The Holy Spirit, known as the Spirit of Truth, guides us into all truth. May our minds be saturated with God's word and Jesus permeate every part of our minds so that we can live in truth.

Blessing prayer: Jesus, you are the truth, and we wear the belt of truth to protect ourselves from lies and deception. In Jesus’ name, Amen
