Exercise Power & Authority

“And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. “ Matthew 10:1

This verse uses the Greek word Exousia, which  is often translated as power and authority. Exousia means more than strength and power, the root word originates from "it is permitted" to exercise legal right and power.

We have lawful jurisdiction over certain domains that we can exercise our judgment and dominion over. With our delegated authority, we are explicitly instructed that we can cast out unclean spirits and heal all kinds of sickness and disease.

In order to exercise our power and authority, we must know where we belong and submit to the ultimate authority, which is Jesus who has delivered us from the power of darkness  and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. (Colossians 1:15) And Jesus is far above all authority, power and dominion, and he has already disarmed the power of darkness and triumphed over them by the cross. (Colossians 2:15)

We are sent by God to demolish the power of darkness, to destroy all kinds of sickness and disease. So let us exert God's dominion over the darkness on earth whenever He sends us.

Blessing prayer: My blessings are with you as you exercise His authority and power under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit will empower you to release power over all diseases and sicknesses, especially over those afflicted by unclean spirits. I  pray you will always be  strengthened and will be so joyful as you set the captives free and heal many people.  I bless you with an effective ministry because of Christ’s victory!  In Jesus’ name Amen!
