Heeding the voice

If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God. Exodus 15:26

Heed is shema in the Hebrew word that means to listen carefully with the intent to obey. God speaks to us all the time and  He wants us to hear Him.

However, hearing from God isn't just a mental activity like receiving information, but it is accompanied by physical action through obeying God.  James 1:22 instructs us to be the doers of the word, and not hearers only.

By heeding God's voice, we can expect His blessings, Deuteronomy 28 1:2 writes His wonderful promises:

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.  And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God. “

When we obey the voice of God, please note that God's blessings will pursue and overtake us and we don’t need to grab His blessings.  Conversely, if we fail to listen and obey the voice of God God, we may need to suffer disobedience's consequences.

God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit, so may we be attentive to what He says, always hear, and obey quickly.

Blessing prayer: May our hearts be soft when we hear God’s voice and the Holy spirit help us to be hearer and doers of the word. Help us to be able to hear God’s voice clearly and give us the strength and courage to do what God says. In Jesus name, Amen.
