The Divine Exchange

For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. Hebrew 10:14

If I were to preach only one message, it would be “the power of the cross”.  Our key verse today means that Jesus offers Himself to provide everything we need on earth and in eternity, in every area of our lives, for everyone who trusts in Him.

When Jesus finished his work on the cross, it is once for all, a complete and sufficient sacrifice.
Aside from the fact that He took our place and our sins, the cross provided us with other benefits and blessings as well. Based on UK bible teacher Derek Prince's teaching, these are the nine divine exchanges:

  1. Jesus was punished that we might be forgiven.

  2. Jesus was wounded that we might be healed.

  3. Jesus was made sin with our sinfulness that we might be made righteous with His righteousness

  4. Jesus died our death that we might share his life

  5. Jesus was made a curse that we might receive the blessing

  6. Jesus endured our poverty that we might shared his abundance

  7. Jesus bore our shame that we might share his glory

  8. Jesus endured our rejection that we might have his acceptance

  9. Jesus was cut off by death that we might be joined to God eternally.

Like communion, Jesus gives away His body and blood, so we receive that symbolic sacrifice by eating bread and drinking juice. With our mouth confessing, we practice the divine exchange like this for the above 9 points: "Jesus, I give you my sin so that I may receive your forgiveness. I give you my poverty so that I may receive your abundance." Just give away our problems and receive His blessings.

The gift of salvation is free, and God wants us to receive it by faith on the basis of what Christ has accomplished for us. Today, let's thank God and claim our divine exchange.

Blessing prayer: Thank you Jesus for the cross so we can have everything and receive your benefits and blessings on earth until eternity. In Jesus’ name, Amen
