Debunk Lies with Ephesians (Part 11) Embracing weak faith and doubt

"In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit." Ephesians 1:13:

Common Lie: "If I am weak in faith or have doubts, I may risk losing God's presence and support—He will leave me."

There's a common misconception that as Christians, we must maintain a certain level of faith, be free of doubts, or engage constantly in religious activities to keep God's presence. However, this isn't what the Bible teaches us. Even the disciples and John the Baptist experienced moments of doubt and weakness in their faith. Ephesians 1:13 helps us address these unnecessary fears. This verse shows us the progression of our faith: hearing the Word of Truth, believing it, and then being sealed by the Holy Spirit. Being sealed means we are marked as God's own, guaranteed His presence and protection. Our faith and relationship with God don't depend on maintaining a perfect, doubt-free faith but on God's actions and promises. We are sealed by His Spirit, assuring us of the security of our relationship with God, based on the finished work of Jesus, not our fluctuating feelings or doubts.

This seal is a powerful assurance that we are held in the grace and love of God, no matter our internal struggles.

Scripture Immersion:

Reflect on times when you've doubted or felt weak in your faith. Write these instances down and bring them to God in prayer. Remember that God can handle our doubts and weaknesses.

Prayer and Affirmation:

Abba Father, thank You for sealing me with Your promised Holy Spirit when I first believed. Help me to remember that my relationship with You is secured by Your grace, not by my strength or the level of faith. I renounce the lie that I must earn Your presence through perfect faith. Help me to be real with You about my doubts and struggles, trusting that You are always with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen
