Debunking the Lie with Ephesians (Part 18) Power that Awakens
Common Lie: God's power is only reserved for special or anointed Christians.
The lie that God’s power is reserved for only a select few is one of the enemy's tactics to keep believers from fully walking in their destiny. Ephesians 1:19-20 shatters this misconception by declaring that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to every believer, for those “who believe”. God's power is not reserved for spiritual elites but is the birthright of all who believe, whether new or mature in the faith.
The Greek word for "raised" (ἐγείρω, egeirō) also means "awaken." The Holy Spirit in us is the same Spirit that not only brought Jesus back to life but also awakens us from spiritual death and sleep. Many Christians fall into a spiritual slumber, becoming entangled in worldly concerns and forgetting their true identity and authority in Christ. But when we are awakened by the Spirit, we become spiritually alert, more aware of our heavenly position—seated with Christ at God’s right hand. This awakening ignites a personal revival, renewing our passion for God, deepening our hunger for His Word, and emboldening us to walk in the Spirit. We must believe in the reality of this power and walk in it, living from a place of victory!
Scripture Immersion:
Are there areas of your life where you have fallen into a spiritual sleep? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal situations where you need to be more spiritually watchful and prayerful.
Prayer:
Abba Father, thank You for the immeasurable power that raised Jesus from the dead and is now at work in me. I praise You for awakening me to my true identity and authority in Christ. Help me to stay spiritually alert, walking in the fullness of Your power and I declare that I am seated with Christ in heavenly places, and the same power that raised Him from the dead is alive and active in me. I walk in victory, fully awakened to my identity in Christ! In Jesus’ name, Amen
