Debunking the Lie with Ephesians (Part 19 )  The real battles

Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. Ephesians 1:21

Common Lie: Spiritual warfare is a myth, it is just a metaphor, so I only need to deal with human and circumstantial battles.

Ephesians 1:21 makes it clear that spiritual warfare is not a myth or mere metaphor. This verse emphasizes the reality of the spiritual realm, revealing that there is an ongoing battle between the kingdom of God and the forces of evil. The terms "rulers," "authorities," "powers," and "dominions" refer to specific spiritual beings that influence the world and our minds. These entities are part of an organized and structured hierarchy within the forces of darkness.

However, this verse also assures us that Christ's authority is far above all these spiritual forces. His supremacy is uncontested, meaning that while the battle is ongoing, we engage in it from a position of victory, not defeat. Colossians 2:15 confirms that Christ has already triumphed over these forces. To engage in spiritual warfare effectively, we must be certain of Christ’s ultimate authority and victory. With this assurance, we can confidently resist the influence of the enemy through firm prayer, the Word of God, and submission to His commands. Plus, there is power in the name of Jesus to break strongholds and cast out demons (Mark 16:17). As we stand in Christ, we are victors and keep winning! The victory is already ours.

Scripture Immersion

Reflect on how we often mistakenly focus on "flesh and blood" battles rather than recognizing the true spiritual warfare at play. How can an awareness of this spiritual battle shape your spiritual and prayer life to live in victory.

Prayer:
Abba Father, I declare that You are far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion. I proclaim that Jesus Christ has ultimate victory over every spiritual force that seeks to oppose Your will. Thank You for equipping me to stand firm in this battle, knowing that I fight from a position of victory. Empower me to use Your Word, prayer, and the name of Jesus to resist the enemy and bring down every stronghold. Amen.
