Favor with a Purpose

Now when the turn came for Esther the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her as his daughter, to go in to the king, she requested nothing but what Hegai the king’s eunuch, the custodian of the women, advised. And Esther obtained favor in the sight of all who saw her." Esther 2:15

Favor in the eyes of both God and men is a recurring biblical theme. Esther’s story is an example of how divine and royal favor is granted not just for personal gain but for a significant purpose. When Esther obtained favor in the eyes of King Xerxes, it was not merely for her comfort or to elevate her status; it positioned her to save her people.

This highlights a critical aspect of divine favor—it is often granted to fulfill God's will and bring about His glory. As modern-day believers, we are encouraged to seek God’s favor not just to improve our personal circumstances but to further His kingdom on earth. Esther’s courage and character show us that when divine favor is aligned with God’s purposes, it can lead to extraordinary outcomes

Reflection Question:
How can you seek God’s favor in your life in a way that aligns with His purposes rather than just your personal desires?

Prayer:
Abba Father, as in Esther 4:14, we too are born 'for such a time as this.' In this appointed time, may we find favor in Your eyes, not for our glory but for the fulfillment of Your purposes. Give us the courage and wisdom to use the favor You grant us to advocate for those in need. May our lives reflect Your grace, and may we also look at others with favor in our eyes. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
