Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment, Part 11: Conclusion – Freedom from Law
"But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law." – Galatians 5:18
Story:
In a healing and deliverance session, a woman shared how growing up with harsh, performance-driven parents shaped her view of God. She believed she had to earn His approval through performance. This distorted view of God left her unable to receive love, and she unknowingly developed a critical and judgmental spirit toward others. As she sought freedom, the Holy Spirit revealed the lies she had believed and the root of her struggles. With prayer, repentance, and surrender, she experienced God’s mercy, breaking free from the bondage of law. Mercy flows naturally as she walks in step with the Spirit.
Legalism and a judgmental spirit often stem from wounds or lies planted by the enemy, who works to distort God’s truth. Satan, the accuser of the brethren, binds people with rules, condemnation, and fear. This spirit of legalism mirrors the Pharisees of Jesus’ time—focused on rules over relationship, law over love.
When harsh judgment and critical thoughts constantly dominate our minds, it’s a sign of a stronghold. These strongholds often have roots in upbringing, societal pressure, or religious environments that emphasize performance and spiritual pride.
But the good news is this: Jesus came to set us free from the yoke of slavery to the law. When we step into the Spirit, we experience the freedom of God’s grace. The key is to recognize these strongholds, repent, renounce agreement with the lies, and allow the Holy Spirit to fill us with mercy and grace. Only by walking in the Spirit can we truly reflect God’s heart of mercy.
I bless you to be led by the Spirit, and may His mercy triumph over judgment in and through you.
To Love Mercy:
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas where legalism and judgmentalism have taken root in your life. Write down what He shows you. Then, renounce agreement with these lies, declare God’s truth, and invite the Holy Spirit to help you walk in freedom and extend mercy to others.
Prayer:
Abba Father, thank You for Your mercy that frees us from the bondage of law and judgment. In Jesus’ name, I renounce the spirit of legalism and judgment. I break agreement with every lie that says I must earn Your love or judge others harshly. It is for freedom that Christ has set me free. Holy Spirit, fill me with Your mercy and grace. Teach me to walk in freedom and extend mercy to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
