Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment Part 8: The Ultimate Gift of Mercy
"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit." Bible Verse: Titus 3:4-6
This Christmas, I look back on those who have extended the gift of mercy to me over the years. I have walked through valleys low and experienced dark times. But in those moments, I experienced the gift of mercy through others—they offered help, didn’t judge me, and extended mercy to me. These moments were the best gifts I ever received and I experienced God’s love more deeply through their kindness. To everyone who has shown me mercy, I thank you from the depths of my heart. Thank you, and Merry Christmas.
The Ultimate Gift of Mercy
Christmas reminds us of the birth of Jesus, the embodiment of God’s mercy. He came into a dark and broken world to shine the light of hope. His birth is the ultimate gift of tender mercy.
Through the Holy Spirit, the gift of Jesus continues in us today. The Spirit gives us the spiritual gift of mercy, enabling us to empathize with others, walk with them in their suffering, and extend forgiveness and kindness. Jesus Himself modeled this gift perfectly. He walks with humanity even in our messiness, understanding our pain and offering forgiveness, healing, and hope.
In a world filled with hurt, loneliness, and brokenness, the best gift we can offer is the gift of mercy. Let us be the hands and feet of Jesus this season, extending His compassion to those who need it most.
To love mercy:
This Christmas, intentionally reach out to someone and offer them an act of mercy: greet them genuinely, listen to their story without judgment, or simply spend time with them.
Prayer:
Abba Father, thank You for the ultimate gift of mercy in Jesus. T. Help me to receive Your mercy deeply and to reflect it to others by the power of the Holy Spirit. May I use the gift of mercy to bring comfort and love to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
