Money is Spiritual – Part 2: Our Money Belongs to God

“Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” – 1 Corinthians 4:2

Our money is not ours—it is entrusted to us by God. This truth reminds us that we are not owners but stewards, because everything belongs to God, including our money, time, and talent. Like a financial manager, we are accountable to Him for how we manage what He has placed in our care. This perspective shifts how we view money; instead of using it selfishly or hoarding it for ourselves, we see it as a trust from God to be used for His purposes.

A steward is someone who manages another person’s resources according to their will and for their benefit. As stewards of God’s resources, He expects us to handle His money wisely. In Matthew 25:14-30, the Parable of the Talents shows that God cares about how we steward and multiply what He gives us.

Faithfulness means managing money in alignment with God’s principles. This requires wisdom, accountability, and intentionality in how we earn, spend, save, give, and invest. Let’s embrace our role as financial managers of God’s resources and commit to avoiding waste, debt, or greed.

Golden Nuggets:

  • God owns everything: Recognize that all money and resources belong to God

  • Be faithful stewards: Manage money in ways that reflect God’s values—wisely and with integrity.

  • Money with purpose: Use money as a tool to honor God, provide for others, and advance His kingdom.

Prayer:
Abba Father, thank You for entrusting me with Your resources. Help me to manage them faithfully, with wisdom and integrity. Teach me to avoid waste, debt, and greed, and to use what You’ve given me for Your Kingdom purposes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
