Perhaps Today Part 1
Perhaps today, Jesus will come back.
"Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Revelation 22:12
The Bible is filled with prophecies about Jesus’ second coming, more than His first coming. His return is certain, though the timing is uncertain. Jesus told us He would come like a thief in the night unexpectedly. This truth isn’t meant to create fear but to remind us of the brevity of life and encourage us to be ready—like the wise virgins who kept their lamps filled with oil. Their preparation brought joy, while the foolish ones faced regret.
What truly matters is not the temporary things of this world, which will all fade one day, but our relationship with Him, which will last forever. While we are here on earth, God has entrusted us to be His hands and feet. We are called to share the gospel, care for others, and point people to Jesus. Although temporary pursuits can often distract us, the unseen things like God’s Word, His kingdom, and intimacy with Him are what truly last.
Perhaps today, if we were to meet Jesus face to face, how would that change the way we live now? This mindset isn’t out of fear, but of hope and purpose. It invites us to live with readiness, aligning our hearts with eternity, and finding joy in serving Christ each day.
Reflection Question:
If today is the day Jesus returns, are you ready to meet with Him?
Prayer:
Abba father, I look forward to Your return. Help me to live each day with purpose, Keep my heart fixed on eternal things and not distracted by the earthly things. In Jesus’ name, amen.
