Perhaps Today Part 9
Perhaps Today… God’s Promise Will Come
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." (Hebrews 10:23, ESV)
Hope deferred makes the heart sick… (Proverbs 13:12). Waiting can feel painful, even discouraging, when hope seems delayed. Sometimes, we feel so worn down by waiting that we stop expecting God to fulfill His promises. But the truth is, real hope doesn’t depend on our circumstances—it is anchored in God’s character.
God knows the pain of waiting, but His promises don’t rely on human effort. Instead, the waiting period is an opportunity to actively trust Him, to shift our focus from what hasn’t been fulfilled yet to His unwavering faithfulness. Even if the promise doesn’t seem to come today, it is not wasted time—it’s an upgrade. In the waiting, God grows our faith, restores our hope, and aligns our hearts with His timing.
Think of Abraham and Sarah. They waited for years, and yet the son God promised, Isaac, came in a way that exceeded human understanding. God’s timing is always perfect, and His promises are always greater than we imagine.
So live in expectation. Perhaps today is the day His promise will be fulfilled—or perhaps today is the day your joy is restored, abounding in hope.
Reflection:
How can you shift your focus from unfulfilled promises to God’s faithfulness today?
Prayer:
Abba Father, thank You for Your promises and Your timing is always perfect. Help me to live with hope and expectation. Restore my joy and remind me of Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
