Rejoicing Like a Babe

In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, 'I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. Luke 10:21

How do we rejoice like Jesus? In Luke 10:21, we find Jesus filled with joy in the Holy Spirit. He rejoiced, not because of earthly triumphs, but because He was rooted in spiritual truths and realities, deeply connected with His Father. This joy transcends earthly circumstances; it's a joy beyond understanding. To be filled with such joy, we need to cultivate the heart of a babe—humble, open, and receptive. It is these child-like qualities that Jesus affirms as necessary to enter the Kingdom of God. To truly know the Father's heart and His perfect will, we must approach God with similar trust and delight that a child has in the goodness of their parent. Let us, therefore, cast aside self-sufficiency and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into a deeper communion with God.

Reflection:
In what ways does embracing a child-like faith increase our spiritual joy and deepen our trust in God's good and perfect will?

Prayer and Declaration:
Abba Father, we come before You with hearts wide open, ready to receive Your love like little children. We rejoice in Your Spirit today, not because of what we have accomplished, but because You are good and Your ways are perfect.

"Renew our minds, Lord, that we may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2). May we delight in Your truth and trust in Your nature, as babes delight in their parents' goodness.

In the name of Jesus, we declare that "the kingdom of God belongs to such as these" (Luke 18:16). May our joy be complete in You, as we walk in Your revealed wisdom and perfect will, rejoicing always in the Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
