The word of Proverbs 31 (Part 3) - Deal bountifully

"She does him good and not evil all the days of her life." - Proverbs 31:12

The phrase 'she does him' is derived from the Hebrew word 'גָּמַל (gāmal),' meaning to 'deal bountifully.' It literally translates to 'deal bountifully with good works,' depicting a life overflowing with good deeds, marked by generosity and an abundance of goodness shared with the world. Moreover, these good works are not mere occasional gestures; they are described as 'all the days of her life,' signifying a consistent and lifelong commitment to good works. The virtuous wife is portrayed as consistently pouring out goodness.

This principle is not just for wives; it is a universal call. We are all urged to live this way, to be generous in our good works on a consistent basis. We can all live impactfully from the start to the finish of our lives.

 Reflection:

Are there areas in your life where you can increase your generosity of good works?

Prayer:

Abba Father, we thank You for Your goodness and for dealing bountifully with us. Teach us to follow the teachings of Proverbs 31:12, dealing bountifully in all our actions and committing to a lifetime of good works. May our lives reflect Your goodness, and may we shun evil, helping to overflow with goodness into this world. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
