The Words of Proverbs (Part 17) Wisdom and Kindness

She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:26

In Hebrew, "wisdom" is more than intellectual knowledge. It encompasses practical wisdom, the type applied in daily living, suggesting a discerning spirit that guides one's actions and decisions. This biblical wisdom is often seen as a divine gift, intended to align the human heart with God's will.

"Kindness" (חֶסֶד, "hesed") represents the very heart of God's character. Kindness is not merely about being polite; it involves ensuring that our hearts and speech reflect the merciful, inherently good nature of God towards man.

The Proverbs 31 woman speaks with wisdom and kindness that stem from her deep and personal relationship with the Lord. True transformation in how we think and speak begins with such a deep relationship, reshaping our minds and speech to reflect His heart.

Reflection:

Consider ways to deepen your relationship with God to better reflect His wisdom and kindness.

Prayer:

Abba Father, we thank You for the gift of Your wisdom and the example of Your kindness. Grant us the grace to, spea  with wisdom and kindness that comes from a heart aligned with Yours. May our words reflect Your love and Your truth in every conversation. Strengthen our relationship with You, that we might grow in discernment and love, embodying Your “hesed” in all that we do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
