Focus on God’s ability

“Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.” Exodus 4:13

When God called Moses to deliver His people from Pharaoh in Exodus chapter 4, Moses questioned his calling and resisted God five times. It was so patient of God to answer Moses' questions by showing him the miraculous signs. In spite of the signs, Moses still doubted his ability, voicing his weakness, “I am slow of speech and slow of tongue”.

Then God reminded Moses who created man’s mouth, and He assured Moses twice that "I will be your mouth and teach you what you shall say”. In other words, God is part of our calling and helps us overcome our weakness.  Now under the new covenant, we have the helper of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, “For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” Luke 12:12 , our God never changes, and we can fully rely on the Holy Spirit to guide and empower us.

We each have our own calling from God because He has blessed us with different gifts. As God places a dream or desire in our hearts, may we respond to His calling with a quick yes.  Rather than looking inside our inability, we will look up to God's ability, because God promises us “I will be with you.”

Blessing prayer: Bless you with the presence of God and give you confidence in what you're called to do. Whenever we feel weak and doubtful, the Holy Spirit comes to strengthen us and help us focus on God's ability. It is my prayer that we fulfill God's calling so that we can grow in character and obedience and enjoy the wonderful process with God. In Jesus’s name,  Amen
