My God is so BIG!

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Ephesians 3:20

In a famous children's worship song, the lyrics are “My God is so BIG, so strong, so mighty, nothing my God cannot do!”

I have often used this phrase My God is so Big as my motto, I use this phrase whenever I want to encourage myself or others. “My God is so Big that He will turn this around!”, “My God is so Big that He can provide!”, “My God is so big that He can heal you!” I found this declaration extremely powerful because it doesn’t limit God, and instead trusts in His power.

However, in this broken world, we have a limited mindset that prevents us from believing that we have a big God. In particular, as a congenital leg amputee, I developed a limited mindset due to my physical limitations. Sadly, I was reinforced by some people around me, especially authority figures, to believe that I could not accomplish much in life.

By God's grace, He sent other angels to encourage me to look at my limitations as a God's gift, and the new perspective that made me start thinking "BIG", instead of thinking small.  In my faith journey, I have seen God do exceedingly and abundantly beyond all I could have ever imagined. I know there are still some areas of my life where I need breakthroughs. However, a lot of people told me they saw impossible things from God in my life. I am here to give all the glory to God.

In order to think God is big, we must believe in His power, not rely on our own strength. This is because relying on our own strength leads to powerlessness. Sometimes we want to appear "holy" or humble, so we don't dare make God's size requests, or have small expectations, which may be disguised by lack of faith or fear of disappointment. As a result, we become weak in faith and limit God with our limited mindset.

The power of expectation lies in our faith in God's power. Do not underestimate God's power. Expect God to strengthen us so we believe in big things. Let's sing "our God is so Big, nothing my God cannot do!"

Blessing prayer: Forgive us for limiting your power and let us declare that we are strong in your power! All things are possible with God. In Jesus’ name, Amen
