Righteousness brings peace

The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever. Isaiah 32:17

The key verse explains righteousness benefits: righteousness brings peace, quietness, and assurance. Righteousness means to be right with God, and righteousness is a gift from God that can only be obtained through faith in Jesus Christ.  As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one. Romans 3:10. Whatever good work we do can never measure up to God's standard. Like Abraham, righteousness is by faith,  it was credited to him as righteousness because he believed in God.

When we receive the gift of righteousness, we receive peace as a direct result. As written In Psalm 85:10 “Righteousness and peace kiss each other.” As  Jesus forgives and removes our sins so we have peace with God, ourselves, and others. As a result of peace, we will experience quietness which implies undisturbed minds, as well as confidence and security in God.

In contrast, if we fail to recognize and receive Jesus' finished work on the cross, Satan often accuses us of unrighteousness by using guilt, shame, and condemnation. Because we "feel" unrighteous after being accused, we become distressed, fretful, and fearful, and we distance ourselves from God.

Thus, we must believe the finished work of Jesus and truly believe this verse: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9. We must put on the full armor of God and protect our hearts with the breastplate of righteousness by rebuking the lies of the enemy and declaring the truth.

We can be worry free and have peace in God's righteousness, as our minds are still and undisturbed, and we are always secure in Him, because the just shall live by faith!

Blessing prayer:  Jesus, thank you for everything you have done on the cross so that we can receive righteousness through faith. In you, we receive peace, quietness, and assurance forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
