The revelatory gifts

AI, Christian devotional blog

for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit.1 Corinthians 12:8

The words of wisdom and knowledge are revelatory gifts of the Holy Spirit. Besides bearing spiritual fruit that is part of sanctification, we also need to desire spiritual gifts eagerly so that we can be effective in ministries and live a victorious life. Moreover, when we operate in various spiritual gifts, we allow God to exert His power, confirm our testimonies, and enable all believers to contribute to the common good

For the word of knowledge is a divine revelation that reveals certain facts about a person, a situation in a supernatural way, not possible by natural means. A notable example is Jesus' knowledge of the Samaritan woman's five husbands.

The word of wisdom is God's revelation that gives us divine guidance and solutions in specific situations. As if we suddenly get a download from God for some kind of divine instruction or solution. The case of Solomon's dealing with two prostitutes and a baby is one of examples using the word of wisdom.

It is common to see the words of knowledge and wisdom often operate together in the Bible. For example, Joseph interprets Pharaoh's dreams with the word of knowledge, and then he gives direction and counsel on how to prepare for the upcoming famine with the word of wisdom. Daniel often used these gifts in front of different kings, and even Jesus used them frequently in His ministries.

There are various ways in which revelatory gifts are manifested, including inner impressions, promptings from the holy spirit, scripture revelations, visuals, and dreams, among others. As we ask God to bless us with these spiritual gifts, we will be able to serve effectively, profit other lives, and gain the revelation of God's heart at all times.

Blessing prayer: May the spirit of the Lord be upon us so that we may operate various spiritual gifts and reveal God’s heart and power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
