The Three Spiritual Habits- Daily Drink (Part 2)

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:37-38

In the human body, drinking is more important than eating, since we can skip food for a few days but need to drink multiple times a day. Hence, daily drinking is so essential since Jesus is known as living water, whom He asks to drink. In what way do we drink the living water?

Isaiah 12:3-6 provides the answers: “Praise the Lord, call upon His name; Declare His deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord and cry out."To summarize, we need to thank and praise the Lord in order to have our daily drink.

It is easy for us to become spiritually dry when facing unpleasant circumstances, especially when our situation does not improve, which leaves us feeling depressed and depleted. One of the best ways to replenish our dry soul is to sing. Singing is drawing the fountain of living water, the more we sing to the Lord, the more watered and refreshed we will be, even overflowing. Our hearts can sing anytime, not just at church services.

When Jesus revealed to the Samaritan woman that He is the living water, He asked her to worship Him in spirit and in truth. In fact, the more we praise the Lord in spirit, the more the Holy Spirit is able to flow through us like a river of living water. My preferred daily drink is praying in tongues especially when I  don't feel like singing or praying; the Holy Spirit always stirs me up and refreshes me.

When we open our mouths and thank the Lord, call on His name, share Christ with someone, sing with our hearts, or simply cry out to the Lord, we let the river of living water quench our thirst and overflow within us.

Blessing prayer: Jesus you are the living water and may our spirit daily be refreshed and revived by praising and worshiping. May the river of living water overflow to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen
