Love is…(Part 12)

Love hope all things. 1 Cor. 13:7

The Greek word "elpizō" (ἐλπίζω) means "to hope" or "to expect." This isn't about blind optimism or ignoring reality; biblical hope infuses resilience and steadfastness into love, choosing to see the potential for good outcomes, forgiveness, and redemption. Why is love so powerful? Because hope helps us maintain a positive, forward-looking perspective that believes in growth, improvement, and positive changes. Especially during difficult times and challenges, hope endows us with an expectant mindset to overcome obstacles and grow stronger while maintaining a positive outlook. It doesn’t disregard realities but places our hope in Jesus, the source of all hope. He is the One who stands with us and for us. Love fueled by hope makes healing and forgiveness possible, as it fosters belief that people can get better and improve because God is at work. Additionally, love paired with hope is very encouraging, as it enables us to recognize and believe in the capabilities and potential in others, which is empowering. Ultimately, hoping in all things grants us a comprehensive outlook on life, empowering us with a resilient and redemptive focus from the heart of God.

Reflection:

How can strengthening your hope in Jesus change the way you approach challenges and relationships in your daily life?

Prayer:

Abba Father, You are the source of our hope through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Today, we proclaim as in Romans 15:13, that You, the God of hope, fill us with all joy and peace as we trust in You, so that we may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Empowers us to face each day with courage and compassion. Teach us to hold onto this hope in all circumstances, allowing it to renew our minds and transform our hearts. As we navigate through trials and tribulations, help us to remember that Your love hopes all things, and through this hope, we are strengthened and encouraged. In Jesus' name, Amen.
