Seasons of Life: Part 1 –
God's Design for Seasons
Ecclesiastes 3:1 – "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven."
Just as God created seasons in nature, He also designed seasons in our lives. Recognizing the season we are in helps us walk in wisdom and align with His timing.
The word "season" in Scripture doesn’t just refer to spring or winter; it means a set time, an appointed time. One truth we must hold onto is that our time is in God's hands (Psalm 31:15). Our part is not to force things to happen but to trust and follow His timing. Things happen in His appointed time.
How do we follow this? It is crucial to "selah"—to slow down, pause, and listen. Only through intimacy with God can we discern His heart and our seasons.
Look at Jesus—His entire public ministry lasted only three years out of His 33-year life. He never rushed to start early, nor did He try to prolong His mission. Instead, He submitted fully to God’s divine timeline. Unlike the world, which measures success by years of experience, God measures by impact and obedience.
Jesus’ life also followed a divine pattern: birth, life, death, burial, and resurrection. This can apply to us. Often, when we experience a season of loss or transition, it feels like a death—a stripping away of what once was. This is followed by a burial season, a time of waiting and uncertainty. But in God’s perfect time, there is always resurrection—a revival of dreams, visions, and purposes that once seemed lost.
So, if you are in a season of waiting, loss, or uncertainty, do not lose hope. God's timing is perfect, and in due time, your resurrection will come. Trust in His customised plan and never lose hope.
Reflection: Are you in a season where something feels lost or buried? How can you trust that God’s timing will bring resurrection and restoration?
Prayer: Abba Father, my time is in your hands. I surrender my timeline to You, knowing that Your timing is perfect. When I feel stuck or discouraged, remind me that resurrection always follows seasons of loss and waiting. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
