Seasons of Life Part 6

"I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!" Psalm 27:13

If I could speak to my younger self, I would say: Learn to plant and root in every season. Looking back, I realize how often I loathed the hard times, magnifying the pain while disregarding the assignment God had for me.

When I started a business, stress overwhelmed me, but that was a season to learn stewardship with God. When I was underemployed, I failed to see that it was a time to root myself deeper in the Lord. Even in seasons meant for rest, I felt restless. But the truth is, we don’t always get to choose our seasons—sometimes, God calls us into them for a purpose.

The key is to be rooted, planted, and pruned. We often think an easier path would be better, but we don’t see the pain or sacrifice behind someone else’s success. Every journey has struggles. Hard times will come to everyone—it is the season of life.

So when difficult seasons arise, how we endure them is what truly matters. The right attitude is to develop a hunger for hard things, because hard things make us stronger. Strong men create better times, but easy times create weak men, and weak men create hard times. When trials come, always remember—we are made for battles.

It can be a slippery slope when things come easily; we may drift from God and become too consumed with our earthly circumstances. But Scripture reminds us: “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you” (1 Peter 4:12). Fiery trials will come, strange things will happen, but in time, what we lose, God restores, and our faith is refined.

No matter what you face, I want to affirm this promise: “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!” (Psalm 27:13). We are stronger than we think, and God is faithful in every season. Hold on to His promises.

Reflection: In difficult seasons, are you focusing more on the pain or the purpose God has for you? What does it truly mean to become strong in the Lord?"

Prayer: Abba Father,  when I face difficulties, help me to see not just the pain, but the purpose You have for me. Teach me to be rooted in all seasons. I believe that I will see Your goodness in the land of the living. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
