Seasons of Life Part 7

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:2-4

We all go through seasons of change. Just as nature transitions from spring to winter, we also experience times of preparation before stepping into something new.

Change can be difficult because it often involves loss, and loss can cause pain. This is what we call "growing pains"—the struggles that come before breakthrough. Before God shifts our circumstances, He first prepares our hearts. Recognizing this revelation of change helps us trust that God is at work, even when we don’t see it yet.

Then comes the preparation phase, the season that helps us navigate transition. This phase can feel painful, confusing, and even discouraging. But looking back, we often realize it was essential. Joseph endured prison before stepping into his destiny. Moses spent 40 years as a shepherd before leading. Their waiting wasn’t wasted, it was preparation.

During this time, fear may arise, but courage means moving forward despite fear. As God told Joshua, “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God will be with you” (Joshua 1:9).

In the preparation season, we may feel restless and want to move ahead too soon. But if we rush the process, we may miss what God is doing. Instead, we must stay faithful and patient, trusting that God is producing something greater in us. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

If you’re in a season of preparation, hold on, trust the process, and know that God is preparing you for something greater.

Reflection Question

In what ways do you see God preparing you in this season of change? How can you trust Him more in the process?

Prayer

Abba Father, help me to trust that You are preparing me for something greater. Give me patience in the waiting, courage to face challenges, and faith to believe that Your timing is perfect.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
